4 Options to Display Chinese Painting
including Mounting on Silk Brocade, as Chinese
Hanging Scrolls, and Framed with Wood

1. Unmounted painting  

Originally painted by artists on XuanZhi (Rice Paper, Xuan Paper) or Silk which is made of many plant fibers and has excellent absorbency of water, ink, and color. (Please click it to see more details of Xuan Paper). It is unmounted and can be freely used in other displaying methods.

2. Mounted on Silk Brocade

Mounting on Silk Brocade is the basic for framing with wood. When framing a Chinese painting with wood, you usually need to firstly mount it on a silk brocade. (Please click it to see more details of Chinese mounting).


After mounting on silk brocade, the total size of the painting will be larger. You can customize the mounting sizes just through emails to let us know. Or you can choose the regular mounting sizes. Normally the regular sizes after mounting on silk brocade are:

The Size after Mounting on Silk Brocade
Horizontal Painting Top/ Bottom: Add 6cm (2.5inches) on each side;
Left/Right: Add 10cm (4inches) on each side;
Vertical Painting Top/ Bottom: Add 10cm (4inches) on each side;
Left/Right: 6cm (2.5inches) on each side;
Painting of being Equal in Length and Width Top/ Bottom: Add 6cm(2.5inches) on each side;
Left/Right: 6cm (2.5inches) on each side;

After calculating, the new sizes of each painting and the original sizes normally are:

3. Mounted on Hanging Scrolls

Mounting on a hanging scroll shows you a traditional graceful appearance. It is one of the favorite methods by collectors. You also can directly appreciate the Chinese painting with hanging scrolls format by directly hanging them on the wall. After mounting on a hanging scroll, the total size of the painting will be much larger. You can customize the mounting sizes just through emails to let us know. Or you can choose the regular mounting sizes. Normally the regular sizes after mounting on hanging scroll are:

Left/Right: Add 25cm (10inches) on each side;
Vertical Painting Top: Add 30cm (12inches);

Painting of being Equal in Length and Width Top: Add 45cm (18inches);
Bottom: Add 40cm (16inches);

4. Framed with Wood  

Framing with Wood is the best way to preserve paintings, which protects paintings well from dust and dampness. The whole product includes the wood, the clear acrylic glass and the painting mounted on silk brocade.


You can customize the framing sizes just through emails to let us know. Or you can choose the regular framing sizes. After framing with wood, the total size normally are:

Horizontal Painting Top/ Bottom: Add 9cm (3.5inches) on each side;
Left/Right: Add 13cm (5inches) on each side;
Vertical Painting Top/ Bottom: Add 13cm (5inches) on each side;
Left/Right: 9cm (3.5inches) on each side;
Painting of being Equal in Length and Width Top/ Bottom: Add 9cm(3.5inches) on each side;
Left/Right: 9cm (3.5inches) on each side;
