Chinese Auspicious Animals Painting
Auspiciousness, means propitious and good omen. In Chinese ancient culture, some animals are very auspicious, such as the dragon, phoenix and Kylin. When they appear, Chinese people believe that they would bring good-luck to them. Other animals such as tiger, lion, elephant and deer etc, they were also worshiped by the ancient people, and they were associated with the theology and political category.
As the auspicious animals, they particularly have some certain characteristics and advantages, and their natural characteristics are corresponding to the high hopes and good wishes of human being.
When a Chinese was born, he/she has been related to auspicious animals. Such as: the neonate's neckband with a gold lock. On the upper part of the gold lock it was carved dragon, tiger and Kylin designs. It expresses the wishes of turning calamities into blessings and warding off evil spirits. When a neonate is on its first month birthday, it is often put on a tiger's head-shaped hat and shoes. When he/she is growing up and gets married, there would be some red roosters in the wedding, and some auspicious images with dragon and phoenix designs in the rooms. In chinese daily life, people have the wishes for the prosperous descendants and family business, safeness, health and wealth. These good and simple wishes are often expressed as the mascot and the paintings with auspicious animals Fengshui design.
